GUIDELINES & CLASS LEVELS

Please read carefully before coming.

GUIDELINES

NEW TO THE YOGA TEMPLE

You don’t need to book. Just turn up 20 minutes before class starts as there is a registration form to fill out the first time you attend class.

FULLY EQUIPPED

You don't need to bring any thing, we provide all the yoga mats and necessary equipment. If you prefer to work on your own yoga mat, please bring it along.

PUNCTUALITY

Classes begin on time. Please turn up 15 minutes before classes commence. A late arrival will disrupt the class energy. Classes are designed to create balance, therefore its important to do the class from the beginning to the end.

BEFORE CLASS

lways practice on an empty stomach. Leave one hour after a light meal or two/three hours after a heavy meal. Wear comfortable loose fitting or stretchy clothing.

HYGIENE

Please bring a towel if you perspire a lot. Yoga is done in bare feet so please make sure your feet are clean.

INJURIES/MEDICAL PROBLEMS

Please inform the teacher if you have some problem that will affect your full participation in the class. If you have any injuries or medical problems please tell the teacher before class as there are specific poses and sequences which may assist you, in some cases certain poses are contra-indicated.

IF YOU ARE UNWELL

If you are unwell or sick with a cold or flu etc, please do not come to class and infect others.

MENSTRUATION

For ladies, please advise the teacher if you are menstruating, as some poses are unsuitable at this time.

PREGNANCY - Experienced yoga students only.

Experienced Iyengar yoga students who have practiced weekly up to their pregnancy may continue with their ongoing classes, however, if you are new to yoga, it is not recommended to begin yoga at this time.

If you have not been to The Yoga Temple before but practice yoga weekly, please ring first.

SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS

Classes are not suitable for anyone with serious healthproblems or serious injuries.

DRINKING WATER

We do not drink water during yoga classes but afterwards go for it, its good for you. The drinking water supplied by The Yoga Temple has gone through high quality reverse osmosis water purification.

CLASS LEVELS

A consistent weekly yoga practice will take you through a process of personal development.

BASICS

This level is for those new to Iyengar yoga. This class focuses on the basic alignment and foundation poses.

ACTIVE FLOW

An energetic flowing class for those who like to work more actively.

OPEN

For those who have been attending Iyengar classes weekly for the last 6 months or more and want to be challenged further. The more experienced students will be given advanced variations of some poses.

INTERMEDIATE

For those who have been attending Iyengar classes weekly for the last 12 months or more. Back bends, handstands, headstand (Sirsasana) are introduced plus pranayama.

ADVANCED

An advanced class for those who have been practicing Iyengar yoga consistently for five years or more and have developed a personal practice.

WORKSHOPS

Open two hour workshops are for those who have been attending Iyengar classes weekly for the last 6 months or more and want to be challenged further. The more experienced students will be given advanced variations of some poses.

SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS

Classes are not suitable for anyone with serious health problems or serious injuries.
