How often should I attend yoga classes with
a busy life style???
Take time out to attend classes once, twice or three times a week. Its best to space your classes out with a few days off and make it fit into your schedule. Weekly attendance is the only way to make true progress to attain balance and health combined with a healthy natural diet and pure water.
What is the difference between Iyengar yoga and forms
of physical exercise and sport???
Most forms of exercise and sport involve a limited range of repetitive movements. As a result, some muscles and joints get a lot of work, while others are not worked enough. These imbalances pull the body out of alignment, causing a loss of efficient functioning of the whole system. Iyengar Yoga pays attention to body alignment, condition of the nerves, glands and organs, as well as to the musculo-skeletal system.
Iyengar students learn how to honour, rather than abuse their bodies, an learn how to balance and develop strength, stamina, flexibility which increases inner awareness. Whatever exercise or sport you do, include yoga into your weekly life to create balance, wholistic health and reduce the risk of injury. You must work the whole muscular system in a balanced way to reach optimum strength and health. Hatha Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years and offers so much more than just an external physical exercise.
What is the different between the varying yoga styles???
Some are very soft, some are extremely physical, some are in the middle ground. If your not sure, try some out but make sure you attend the correct class level for your yoga experience. Do not continue to mix different yoga styles, as you will receive too many mixed and conflicting messages. Try and learn from the same teacher if possible. The key to advancing in yoga practice is to stick with the same teacher and the same yoga method. If you practice weekly you will receive many benefits on all levels.
Should I do a yoga course or just attend classes weekly???
A course implys a start and finishing date. To understand and receive all the benefits that yoga offers, you must make it a part of your regular life. Like most things in life, they reveal them selves through time and practice.
I have injures, what should I do???
Iyengar yoga
Why?
Because the founder spent over 70 years on the mat researching
on how to deal with problems by modifying the postures with props.
B.K.S. Iyengar is also the originator of props used by many other yoga systems in the world today and has written the classical
authoritative books on the subject.
I’ve become lazy in the last few years and now a little overweight, unfit and tight. Can I do yoga, and what else do you recommend???
Start with one yoga class a week for a while then build up from there. At the same time look at your diet. If you're eating junk and processed food and consuming too much sugar STOP and make positive change. Eat fresh fruit & vegies, small amounts of protein and drink pure water (not tap water). Walk by the sea in the mornings if possible and also collect the morning sun ( Vit D ), or walk in a park or in natural surroundings if possible and not in air conditioning. Walk at least three days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Check out the new Nike (free) shoes as they are a lot more advanced than normal shoes and a lot better for your physical structure.
