GUIDELINES
NEW TO THE YOGA TEMPLE
You don’t need to book. You don't need to bring anything. We provide all the yoga mats and necessary equipment. The first time you attend a yoga class please turn up at least 15 - 20 minutes before class starts, as there is a registration form to fill out.
GOOD TIMING
Classes & workshops begin on time. If you can, please turn up 10-15 minutes before classes & workshops start so you have enough time to clock in, set up your yoga mat/props and relax before class starts. Turning up early shows respect to students and the teacher. Please remember to turn off your mobile. Thank you.
CORRECT CLASS LEVEL
It is important to attend the correct class level that corresponds with your yoga experience. Please go to the class levels page on this website for more information.
WHAT DO I WEAR
Wear comfortable loose fitting or stretchy clothing. Don’t wear any clothing that restricts your movement. We work in bare feet.
EATING
Always practice on an empty stomach. Leave
- 2 or so hours after a heavy meal
- 1 hour or so after a light meal
- Half an hour after a small amount of fruit
INJURIES/MEDICAL PROBLEMS
Please inform the teacher if you have some problem that will affect your full participation in the class. If you have any injuries or medical problems please tell the teacher before class as there are specific poses and sequences which may assist you, in some cases certain poses are contra-indicated.
IF YOU ARE UNWELL
If you are unwell or sick with a cold or flu etc and are still coughing, please do not come to class and infect or disrupt others.
MENSTRUATION
For ladies, please advise the teacher if you are menstruating, as some poses are unsuitable at this time.
PREGNANCY - Experienced yoga students only.
Experienced Iyengar yoga students who have practiced weekly up to their pregnancy may continue with their ongoing classes, however, if you are new to yoga, it is not recommended to begin yoga at this time.
Note: If you have not been to the Yoga Temple before but practice yoga weekly, please ring first.
SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS
Classes & workshops are not suitable for anyone with serious health problems or serious injuries.
